10 Cities with the Longest Fasting Duration during Ramadan 1445 H/2024
INFOGRAPHICS
3/14/2024
Every year, Muslims around the world observe the fasting ritual of Ramadan, abstaining from food and drink from dawn until sunset.
For those living near the Equator, where daylight remains relatively stable throughout the year, the fasting experience doesn't vary much annually due to consistent sunrise and sunset times.
However, in other parts of the world, particularly in northern and southern regions, the duration of fasting shifts noticeably. This is because fasting is determined by the Islamic lunar calendar, resulting in variations in fasting times.

During the same Ramadan period, there can be significant differences in fasting durations, with variations of up to 3 hours between the first and last day of fasting. For example, in Nuuk, Greenland, fasting lasts 14 hours and 37 minutes on the first day and extends to 17 hours and 52 minutes on the last day.
Data collected by Islamic Finder and reported by Al Jazeera reveal that cities with the longest fasting durations during Ramadan 1445 H/2024 are mostly found in Scandinavian countries. Here's the list:
