ISSED (Institute for Statistics and Socio-Ecological Development) is a research institute and study center for data-based strategies and technologies. Our journey began in 2019 as an interdisciplinary community of academics, researchers, trainers, consultants, and volunteers based in Aceh. By the end of 2023, we had grown to become one of the first civic-tech social enterprises in the region that employs a quantitative social science approach.
We focus on the development of our society by bringing together experts across three core areas:
statistics, data science, and machine learning;
economics, public policy, regional planning, and sociology; and
health, psychology, environment, and ecology.
We believe in the power of data for social good, aiming to create positive change through human development, ecological sustainability, and social well-being.
