In a mother's life journey, a midwife is often the first person they trust during childbirth. With dedication, midwives assist in more than half of all deliveries in Indonesia, around 56%. On the other hand, obstetricians serve as another important pillar, assisting around 36% of births with their more in-depth medical skills. However, in some corners of the country, old traditions are still alive. About 3.5% of mothers opt for traditional birth attendants known as dukun beranak or paraji, although their role is increasingly being replaced by medical professionals. These numbers tell a story of slow but steady change towards safer and more controlled childbirth
This fact shows the importance of trained medical personnel in ensuring a safe and healthy delivery process.
