The UEFA Champions League (formerly known as or European Cup, abbreviated as UCL or UEFA CL) is an annual football club tournament organized by the European Football Union or (UEFA) and contested by the best European clubs, through a round robin group stage qualification and a double-legged knockout format to determine the winners who qualify for a single-legged final. The Champions League is the most-watched club competition in the world, and the third most-watched football competition overall, after the UEFA European Championship and FIFA World Cup. The Champions League is one of the most prestigious football tournaments in the world and the most prestigious club competition in European football, played by the national league champions (plus one or more runners-up for some countries) of the national associations.

In this year's final match, Borussia Dortmund, who qualified for the final first, will face Real Madrid for the ‘Big Ear’ at Wembley Stadium!

Earlier, the Champions League semi-final second leg kicked off with a match between Paris Saint-Germain and Dortmund at the Parc des Princes, on May 8th. Dortmund came out on top 1-0, taking the team to the final with an aggregate of 2-0. Die Borussen will have their first Champions League final in eleven years. Then on May 9th, Real Madrid competed against Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu. Both teams came into the first leg strongly, tied 2-2 on aggregate. In the second leg Bayern Munich took the lead in the 68th minute. But towards the end of time, Real Madrid surprisingly managed to turn things around. Substitute Joselu scored two goals in the 88th and 90+1 minutes. Real Madrid made it through to the final with a score of 2-1.

This year marks Real Madrid's 18th Champions League final in history. Los Merengues have won the Champions League 14 times, with the last one coming in 2022. Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund will reach their 3rd Champions League final after the German club won the 1997 edition and finished runners-up in 2013. The Champions League final match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid is scheduled for June 2nd, 2024.
